30-July-2004 I have reached the maximum throughput of MyIDE in blockmode: 60 k/s with a IRQ of 6144 Hz playing audio. Format now is (PAL): 64x216 16 grey for 4:3 80x172 16 grey for 2:2.1 6144 Hz 4 bit audio frame-rate 8 fps 1/8 sec. Audio + 1 frame are stored in sequence on the harddrive, using a kind of direct-X mode. For now this format wil not change. Finished demos will show up in the directory www.mr-atari.com/demo If you have questions, just drop me a line at sijmen(@)mr-atari.com Kind regards, Mr.Atari ------------------------------------------- 7-July. Just to give you guys a idea how it looks like on a TV with your Atari playing..... mra_showing_matrix.mpg I have digitized my 800xl through my capture-card and compressed the lot 75% Have a look and enjoy it! Note: it's now in 16 grey-scale ;-) Mr.Atari ----------------------------------------- 13-June. Been a long time...... But I'm ready for the retro-fair! I have 3 movies digitized and some atari-commercials. All movies are 6khz sound and 8 Fps. 160x76 (wide-screen) or 128x96 (4:3) 5 gray dot-matrix. Also I found that MyIDE can do 80 k/s data-transfer. With 6kHz sound-IRQ you reach about 54 k/s. That's all for now. Questions? Mail me at INFO(a)MR-ATARI.COM Yes, the VIEWER.EXE below only works on a internal interface. Sorry. No time to compile one extra for the external too...... :-( ---------------------------------------------- 20:00 CET........ I just uploaded the viewer! VIEWER.ATR size 5694 DD-sectors (1.44 Mb disk) SOURCE-CODES included. Use them wisely ;-) For use with MyIDE 3.x drivers. First you have to create 2 partitions on your MyIDE-drive. D2: 5000 DD-sectors (for the video) D3: 1000 DD-sectors (for the audio) After downloading, you need to mount it as D4: using SIO2PC. run SETUPV.EXE from dos (15 minutes). This will copy the file D4:DEMO.MOV to D2: run SETUPS.EXE from dos (3 minutes). This will copy the file D4:DEMO.SND to D3: Then you can run VIEWER.EXE Enjoy! Clu: VIEWER800.EXE soon! -------------------------------------------- Update: 14 April 2004 I have a beta-version of the viewer running on my 800XL (with MyIDE / 2.5" internal HD). You can have a look at it by downloading the movie: mra_showing_the_viewer.mpg I need to finish the tools for transferring the files demo.mov and demo.snd from the ATR-image to D2: and D3: (IDE-partitions!) And to make the viewer read the MyIDE partition-table to extract were D2 and D3 are located on your HD. For my friend Clu, I include a Atari-800 version :-) Hope to get the new MOVIE.ATR up soon! ------------------------------------------- Update: 26 March 2004 I received a email from Mirko (Germany) who also made a atari-movie :-) It's a ZIPfile, containing a 16Mb ATR file for use on a harddrive. Movie is 40x24 and looks nice. No sound. You find it in this directory as TVVID.ZIP >>>>Check it out. Thanks Mirko! I have sound working! Now to write a viewer that supports video and audio. ------------------------------------------- Update: 22 March 2004 Yes, sound.... Getting sound of your A8 is easy, but to IRQ it at 4 kHz and keeping the buffers full is not. Anyhow, the driver works, but the sound I have converted from .WAV is terrible bad. This due to a conversion-error I made. Beside this I have converted 1 frame in 160x100 2bit RGB as a demo. Check it out, no HD needed for this (RGB.ATR runs itself). ------------------------------------------- Update: 19 March 2004 Sound is really not easy to program..... But I'm getting somewhere! Soon my first movie will be finished :-) ------------------------------------------- Update: 7 March 2004 There were some small bugs on this disk. Now you can view the movie using SIO2PC and the file movie-file isn't corrupt... But you still need a PBI or MyIDE hard drive to watch it in normal speed. Much has to be done. Sound is still missing and I really like to make a RGB-movie..... Let see what happens in future :-) ------------------------------------------- How to use: MOVIE.ATR This is a High-capacity MyDOS disk, containing 10.000 sectors. To view the movie in full speed, you need to copy the content of this disk to your harddisk (PBI or MyIDE). Then: Load turbo-basic (L TBASIC ) Load/Run the program SHOW.BAS Enjoy. This is my first movie-project and things can be faster (more frames / pixels) when the program runs in 100% machine-code. To be continued...... Mr.Atari
